Top officials
representing ICASA/regulator/, National Association of Broadcasters
(NAB), relevant Ministry and Sentech (network operator) attended a
showcase event held in South Africa on May 3rd. The event reviewed some
of the digital radio trials held in South Africa (both DRM and DAB+)
while the afternoon session was devoted to AM and the role of DRM in
satisfying domestic and international needs of the country.
Key members and
excellent speakers form South Africa and Europe representing Sentech,
ICASA, Radio Pulpit, Broadcom International, Thembeka Khaka and
Associates, BBC, Ampegon, all contributed to the event demonstrating the
great, country-wide coverage potential of DRM. Radio Pulpit carried a
live DRM MW transmission on the day and Chris Joubert (Broadcom
International) demonstrated with sound and pictures the full complement
