WorldDAB to Host Industry Insight Session

World DAB has announced it will be hosting an Industry Insight Session during IBC2016 in Amsterdam.

Free for IBC attendees, the program is titled, “Looking to Radio’s Digital Future — Digital Switch Over Progress and Plans,” and will look at the progress digital radio has made across Europe and the countries planning to make the digital switchover.

Norway is the first country to confirm a date for switchover and, during the session, Jørn Jensen from NRK Norway will speak on the country’s progress and challenges that need solving by Jan. 11, the date where the first FM transmitters will be turned off.

Switzerland aims to undergo its digital switchoff between the years 2020 and 2024. To discuss the status there, Senior Advisor at SRG, SSR Switzerland, Thomas Saner, will provide an update on their plans to go from DAB to DAB+.

The speaker session rundown is as follows; Graham Dixon, head of radio, European Broadcasting Union; Jørn Jensen, senior advisor to director of distribution, NRK Norway; Carsten Zorger, Digital Radio Büro Deutschland, Germany; Laurence Harrison, technology and market development director, Digital Radio UK; Thomas Saner, senior advisor, SRG SSR, Switzerland; and Jan Westerhof, head of radio, NPO, The Netherlands.
