3325   PAPUA NEW GUINEA. NBC - Bougainville. Local news in English at 1010 with a strong signal. Not to be confused with RRI/VOI - Palangkaraya (some lists to have English scheduled at this time), Aug 24.

3480   KOREA REP. Voice of the People - Kyonggi-do Koyang. Korean commentary at 1015, good signal and no jamming, Aug 24.

3920   D.P.R.KOREA. KCBS - Hyesan. Monitored from 1035 to past 1055, mainly Korean talk but occasional choral music spots, weak signal, Aug 24.

👍 4055   GUATEMALA. R. Verdad - Chiquimula. Interval signal on woodwind instruments (recorder-like flute) at 1025. Anthem at 1030 (many verses!!). Xylophone jingle and ID in English and Spanish. Very weak signal at Mount Evelyn compared to last month’s report from the Flinders Ranges. Having said that, it never ceases to amaze me that this station makes it across the Pacific at all on such low power. Aug 24.

👍 4970   INDIA. AIR - Shillong. At 1320 with pleasant Hindi folk music, weak signal under local atmospherics, Aug 24.

5040    INDIA. AIR - Jeypore. At 1330 with anncts in possibly the Odia language, (it certainly sounded different to regular Hindi), and musical selections. Fair to good signal on Aug 24.

5830   USA. WTWW - Lebanon TN. Discussion on “free radicals” and other problems with chemicals at 1110. Nasty audio hum apparent between speech breaks. Fair signal on Aug 24. Then again on Aug 25, stunned to find a very weak signal and better audio at 0010 (10:10am here!) with American preaching, but faded by 0025. The only signal on the 49 mb at that time!

5875   THAILAND. R. Thailand - Ban Dung. Mandarin service to SEAs at 1115, Japanese at 1130. Good signal, Aug 24.

👍 5915   MYANMAR. Myanma R. - Naypyidaw. A good signal this evening at 1120, with Burmese chat and easy listening pops. Heavy splatter from CRI’s Filipino service at 1130 on the adjacent 5910 until s/off 1157, leaving Myanmar in the clear for a few minutes. Then co-channel QRM from CRI s/on 1200 in Mongolian. However, Myanmar was a slightly better signal. Aug 24.

7445   ENGLAND. BBC - Woofferton. Dari service to SAs/AFG at 0035 (10:35 am here) with a radio play, a very weak signal on Aug 25.

7550   INDIA. AIR - Bengaluru. At 0040, just caught station anncts with frequency details at 0040 for the English service to SEAs, final s/off anncts at 0445, weak signal, Aug 25.

👍 9455   BANGLADESH. Bangladesh Betar - Dhaka. Interval signal at 1312. Time pips at 1315 - yes, on the UTC quarter-hour! After the time pips, then s/on anncts in Nepali, followed by a short burst of music and the news. Fair signal. The transmission is beamed to Nepal which has the odd local time zone of UTC +5:45 hours. So on this occasion, the local time in Nepal was 7:00pm. Bangladesh is UTC +6:00 hours, so it’s nice of them to give their Nepali listeners their local time. A quick check of all transmissions beamed to Nepal shows only a few occasions when broadcasts begin either 15 min past or 45 min past the UTC hour. Most broadcasters still stick to UTC on-the-hour or 30-min past UTC hour, resulting in Nepalese listeners needing to get into the habit of tuning in to their favourite broadcasts at 15 or 45 min past their local hour. 👍 9636.01   VIETNAM. VoV - Son Tay. Network 1 at 0055 in Vietnamese with many canned anncts over background music. New information program at 0102 (11:02am here), fair to poor signal on Aug 25.

9690   AUSTRALIA. Reach Beyond Aus - Kununurra WA. Barely audible off the back of their beam at s/on 1245 for the English service to SAs until s/off 1300. However, the KiwiSDR in New Delhi showed the signal booming into that part of the world! Aug 24.

👍 9885   TAJIKISTAN. National Unity R. - Dushanbe. Korean commentaries to NEAs at 1210, fair signal. I suspect this is via Dushanbe and NOT via Taiwan as appears in some lists, but happy to be corrected! Aug 24.

9930   PALAU. Que Me Radio. - via WHRI Medorn. Vietnamese on Fridays at 1220, into English at 1230, fair signal, Aug 24.

11601   TAJIKISTAN. Voice of Tibet - Dushanbe. Tibetan news program at 1240 with a good signal, Aug 24.
