On this week's “Wavescan” host Jeff White was at the A19 HFCC conference
in Tunis, Tunisia where the sad news of the possible closure of the
Meyerton, South Africa shortwave transmitter site at the end of March.
Apparently the decision by the BBC to stop using Meyerton has made
operating the site too expensive for Sentech. Channel Africa does not
use the site enough to make it financially viable and it is unclear, at
this point, whether Radio Sondergrense will also be impacted.
